Session of the Month - November 2023

December 7, 2023

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year! I don’t know about you all, but I feel like I blinked and this year raced past. Aside from June (yay end of school and summer starting), December is definitely my favorite month of the year. I am a sucker for the hunt for the perfect gifts for my loved ones, just imagining their faces when they open it.

Small tangent, but Happy Hanukkah to those who celebrate! I hope your first day of celebrating was fantastic.

Anyway, back to business. It’s time for November’s session of the month!

The session I am spotlighting this month was kind of a last minute booking. I have known this family since their current senior daughter (Claire) was a seventh grader in my class. I had the pleasure of having her as a student for three years and even got to take her (and a few handfuls of her classmates) to France in summer of 2022! This mama had reached out to me to do a session the weekend of Thanksgiving, knowing it would be a gamble. But when all 4 of your beautiful kiddos are under one roof, it’s always worth a shot! Lucky for them I was able to squeeze them in between all my food comas from the delicious food.

You would be hard pressed to find a nicer family than this crew. On our way home from said France trip, we missed our layover in Minneapolis and got stuck there overnight. That meant we had to figure out how to get 20 people back home to central Wisconsin otherwise wait another 24 hours for another flight. Some parents opted to drive that night and get their kids (and sometimes an extra one or two) but about half of us stayed behind in a hotel for the night. This family has quite the large RV so they VERY kindly headed our direction that very next morning to cart us back home. To say they were angels in disguise was an understatement.

This past summer I had the privilege of doing senior photos for Claire. It has been such a joy to watch her grow from a shy 7th grader to a smart, kind, open-minded young woman. I don’t think there’s a mean bone in her body!

The baby of this family, Paige, is a Muscular Dystrophy warrior. I know it sounds cliché, but she most definitely does not let it slow her down! One of the two fur-babies from this session is Koda… Paige’s service dog. I just loved being able to capture a few shots just the two of them! He is such a sweet boy.

One thing I also love is how proud this mama is of all her feathery friends. When the session was done, she asked me if I wanted to meet the chickens. Of course, I happily agreed. I couldn’t resist snapping a few shots of her loving on those birds!
