Session of the Month - December 2023

Man I am still mind-blown writing “2024” on things. I feel like we just got used to 2023!

My “session” of the month for December is one that I’ve done three times now. Because my studio is downtown, I also get to be part of the downtown business association. The association does a ton of awesome events throughout the year, one of which is is our Downtown Christmas event. For this event, we not only bring in Santa but also REINDEER!

Attendees then have the option to hang out with Santa in his sleigh. This is where I come in! I take photos of kiddos/families chatting with Santa that can be purchased. All money that comes in from the photos gets donated to Operation Bootstrap! I absolutely love being a part of such a fun event all while helping to raise money for an organization that does SO MUCH GOOD for our community! This year brought in a record amount. I dropped off a check for $1,500 to them right before New Year’s!

I got a ton of adorable shots. My favorite is the one above… this sweet little girl is the daughter of a couple whose wedding I shot in 2022. She was fast asleep during her entire visit with Santa but then grabbed his finger. It was SO SWEET.

We also can’t exclude the shots of the kids who were a little angry to be hanging out with Santa. Thankfully most parents were great sports and recognized that sometimes the sobbing Santa pics are the best memories to hold on to for the upcoming decades. There was even one mom who was bummed her kid DIDN’T cry. She’s my kinda mom… one who can find the humor in a “non-perfect” photo moment.
